Eddie Alvarez finally got his first win since July of 2016 this Saturday evening in Detroit, knocking Justin Gaethje out with a savage knee in the third round at UFC 218.
Since he beat Rafael dos Anjos to be declared the light-weight Champion at UFC Fight Night 90 last summer, Alvarez endured a damaging loss to Conor against Dustin Poirier in May. This win was a badly needed win for Alvarez.
For Gaethje, this was the first loss, either amateur or pro. ‘The Highlight’ has, nevertheless, lived up to his nickname throughout every min of his thrilling UFC career, no doubt his fans will be anxiously awaiting his return to action.
